short depressed quotesWhat are some good short positive quotes to help someone you care about stay Strong when they are depressed?

My friend, who is like my second brother, means a lot to me and lately he's been really depressed and talking about suicide and ending his life. I text him a lot and I'm looking for a good short saying to put as my signature on my phone to help him stay positive. Something like stay strong, but better. I hope having something like that would help him realize that people care about him and he's not alone.

I don't have a short quote for you - when I get depressed (another word for bored) I go and look closely at weeds and wonder at their tenacity and strength, look closely at the beauty of their little flowers, struggling to survive through so much adversity - nobody cares for them, waters, nurtures them - everybody ignores them and wants to get rid of them and grow beautiful flowers that need so much tending for a short time of beauty - the more a weed is knocked down the stronger it strives to live - I imagine the little weed saying to itself: 'one day somebody may come along and recognize my strength, my beauty, my tenacity and accept me for what/who I am, encourage me and maybe help me to find out my purpose on this earth'. I hope you can help your friend and others with my 'little weed' thoughts - kindest regards Lexi23 - you sound like a kind, caring person.
Wow, I had a friend who suffered from depression. I hope your friend is getting as much support as possible - therapy, family, friends, etc. It's tough. Anyway, here are some quotes that will hopefully help.

1. Noble deeds and hot baths are the best cures for depression.
--Dodie short depressed quotesSmith

2. Just like other illnesses, depression can be treated so that people can live happy, active lives.
--Tom Bosley

3. For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again.
--Proverbs 24:16

4. It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get up.
--Vince Lombardi

5. If you are going through hell, keep going.
--Winston Churchill

6. When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot in it and hang on.
--Thomas Jefferson
It dependson what he's depressed about !
you should be like it could have been worse. If it's something that happened to him.
or tell him stories about others who are suffering from a lot of bigger situations! and that he's lucky that this or that didn't happen to him.. It works for me when I feel down or depressed
I always remember how others are dying or ssufferingfrom something that is bigger than my situation and then i thank god that i'm still alive and healthy.
I really recommend Paulo Coelho's book "Warrior of Light." It's full of really inspirational quotes like that, every page is a different quote. BTW depression can be helped by taking super-strong fish oil supplements, check this out:

If you are looking for just one quote, how about this from Viktor Frankl (he was a prisoner in a concentration camp):
"A light shines in the darkness."
life goes on, things get better..things change. bad only happens so you can learn to appriciate the good.
Tell him that suicide is a long term solution to a short term problem :)
And that you will help him through
I love "This, too, shall pass". Short but very powerful :)
Wow, what great friend you are. Just remind him he's never alone, that he's always in your thoughts and your friendship gives you meaning, after all his depression is yours too, or you wouldn't care. Just remind him that, like Scarlett O'Hara said in Gone With the Wind, "Tomorrow IS another day," and that things and times (conditions in his life) change. I am Bipolar (manic depressive) going from up, up, to deep lows. I'm also OCD, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder and have D.I.D. (used to be called Multiple Personality Disorder), so I'm no stranger to mental stress and illness, but I had a great friend (like you) who was always (and I mean always) positive and it showed me, even after he died a long horrible illness, that happiness isn't something outside of us, its something we choose. ITS ALL ABOUT ATTITUDE.

Even dying he had a great attitude and because of that, it was easier to lose him, even though (besides my psychologist and psychiatrist) he was the only one I could talk too, knowing he wanted me to go on, I found that the Serenity Prayer was right, there are only so many things we can change in our lives and the rest is up to chance and circumstance. Even the Bible says "unforseen occurences befall us all" basically meaning "sh** happens" in common language.

Just your being there is a great help! Howeshort depressed quotesver, medication really turned my life around, making me feel almost normal, not that I can ever be normal, but I'm able to control my OCD, the stress from being sexually active and tortured from age 5 up is controllable and I just try to keep a healthy, up-beat attitude. Can I do it every day? No, but that's what I have friends for! : ) I wish you the best of luck, at least he's loved.
From the Bible: "... nothing is impossible with God." Luke 1:37. You and your friend should know that God can help you live a better life if you want Him to help you. You can have a personal relationship with God by saying the prayer below. God is our Creator, all-knowing, all-powerful, eternal, holy, love. God loves us and sent us His Son, Jesus Christ, so we can go to heaven if we know and follow Him. Forever means without end -- time on and on without death. Forever is what happens after we die. Either we go to heaven and be with God forever, or we go to hell which is very bad and painful forever. The good people who are saved believers in Jesus Christ go to heaven. The bad people go to hell. We need to know and follow God in this world to get to heaven in the next world. We follow God by loving and obeying Him and loving others for Him. Jesus Christ, God's Son, is our bridge to God. Jesus died on the cross to cancel our sins. We need to accept Jesus into our life as our Lord and Savior forever to receive God's blessing and forgiveness plus go to heaven to be with God forever after we die. This is about being a born-again Christian. Faith in God is a gift from God. You can pray for faith in God. Just speak out and ask God for the faith to believe in Him and to follow Him. Some people find faith in God when they realize the beauty in the world is made by God. Evolution can't explain the world's natural beauty, for example, the parks in the world, animals, flowers, peacocks, sunsets, butterflies, rainbows, etc. After you have your faith on, you can pray a sinner's prayer to be a born-again Christian. This prayer is very important and should be said with a sincere heart and faith in God. This is the prayer: "Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and that Jesus Christ is the sacrifice for our sins. I have done the following sins (state these out) and I pray to discontinue these sins. I pray to receive Jesus Christ into my life as my Lord and Savior forever. In Jesus' name, amen." I'm Lutheran and I like the Baptist churches too. You could check out a Christian church and also see about their weekly Bible study group as a good way to learn about God's will for your life. You can pray to God about your daily life and have a Christian church pray for you.
