Recently I had a question about a problem I was having with some old DOS games running in Vista and another one about getting a nice crisp robot effect in my singing and both were removed. Can anyone explain why? They certainly didn't violate any of the rules. They were legitimate questions I had.
Normally, it takes two answerers to remove a question. Sounds like you've got someone with multiple accounts stalking you. Go through your friends list and delete some of your fans that you think may be the culprits. Normally, they will just thumb down your answers but this is a more severe abuse of the system.
An alternative would be to report it to y/a but if you've been around long enough, you know that will get you nowhere.
Lastly, although your questions are certainly legit and this is unfair, let's keep it real. Y/A is just entertainment. It's not going to be carved into history like stone. If you take it too seriously, you will go mad. It's just a crappy Q&A site where most answers are chosen by voting. It has no historical significance or meaning. Just a way for yahoo to promote yahoo on search engines. Nothing more.
No. You simply get a computer generated email. And if you challenge the ruling, some jackass will send you out another computer reply saying that it was reviewed and found to be in violation and they will refer you to read the Community Guidelines.
Nothing but a joke. Have fun with it. I enjoy your questions. Take care.
Thank you.
If you follow a few simple rules , yvery random questionsou will never again have a question removed. You have to stop before you hit the SUBMIT button and remember the rules. Try not to "solicit" other Yahoo users. Don't offer them a discount at your store and don't say "10 points for first right offer". That would break the rule against "soliciting".
Try to make your questions "knowledge-worthy". If someone did a Yahoo Search in 6 months , your question should still be valuable. So you would never want to ask a question like "Would anyone be interested in a ticket to a concert in Denver" because that would break 3 rules: you would be soliciting a buyer for your ticket; you would be asking a question whose answer would not be of interest to anyone but you,so it is chat and it is not "knowledge worthy".
You can make it so you never have a question removed for the next 2 years. It is easy to follow the rules.
You say they do not violate the rules, it seems you don't quite grasp the rules. Questions must create knowledge for all users, yours are mainly personal and as such Yahoo classes them as chatting. You may not agree but sadly they make the rules.
If you personalize questions too much or ask them in an improper format (such as 'Do you know' questions), they can get violated. THe biggest violation is chat. Chat is defined in the YA Community Guidelines (link at bottom of every page). There are specific things listed that you may not think are chat, but Yahoo defines it that way and you have to live with it. You should go to the site dizzay.com and see whvery random questionsat a YA type site looks like when chat is allowed.
Just stay away from questions that simply ask people's personal opinion or personal information. Those can sometimes be ok, but most of the time they are chat. Stick with questions that only ask for facts, figures, and data like a teacher might ask in school. You can ask for example Paris Hilton's age, but you can't ask what people thought of her dress. You can ask "What is a good SUV for a big family?", but not "What type of SUV do you drive?".
Chatting is asking questions that can only be answered with personal opinion and to which only you and the answerer will give a hoot. You can tell most of these by the presence of pronouns (I,we,you,me,us) or pronoun adjectives (your, mine, ours). If these are present your question will be chat 90% of the time and if you can not rewrite the question without them, it is chat 99% of the time.
People have different takes on violations, but I hope you will reread the community guidelines for other types of questions that are not allowed and specifically spelled out such as Fill in the Blank questions (link at the bottom of the page).
Rule is a question must seek knowledge or advice beneficial to all.
Did your questions meet that criteria or where they personal to you and of no value to anyone. Read the community guidelines, take the quiz and improve your comprehension of the rules
A question just had about some old dos games - come on...
